Being moved to Friday nights is apparently nothing like Kryptonite, because today the CW officially announced that the network's longest-running scripted series, Smallville, has been renewed for a 10th season.  The news comes a few short weeks after the CW renewed Supernatural, Gossip Girl, 90210, The Vampire Diaries and America's Next Top Model.

The renewal isn't that surprising given the show's continued success.  Despite being moved to Friday nights, Smallville remained one of the network's highest-rated shows.   While Supernatural prepares to celebrate its 100th episode, the renewal means that early next season Smallville will reach its 200th episode.

First, the good news.  Smallville managed to haul in more than its usual share of audiences for the episode "Conspiracy" last week, which means it's getting more likely for the CW to hold on to the show.  We're certainly glad to hear about the 2.53 million viewers that tuned in, raising the numbers from the previous 2.42 million.

Since it's one of those high-rated scripted series that the network has invested in, you'd think they'd give it more airtime.  Unfortunately, we've got some bad news too.
