1.20 - Obscura

4.19, Blank

Chloe and Clark stop by the Talon to get coffee and talk about where he might go to college (we already know that Chloe is going back to her home town of Metropolis togo to Met U in thefall.). Clark talks about going to Miami (he checked it out in Run with Bart, and it's a set up for Aqua.) While they are there, her cousin on duty is robbed and doesn't remember it. Clark rushes outside to confront the robber who zaps Clark - erasing all his memories (and we see a still from every episode in the series thus far.) Chloe comes running out of the Talon to check on him, and Clark looks up at her confused. "Clark who?"

4.17, Onyx

Clark and Chloe go to check up Lex after an explosion at LuthorCorp, Chloe explains that yet another one of her sources is an EMT at Smallville Medical Center.  Lex explains that it's fine, that it was merely an experiment that went a little out of control.  Chloe snarks that she's sure it was helpful - "to LuthorCorp's bottom line."  Lex claims it would be helpful to al and invites both of them to the lab to check out the experiment.  Chloe remains skeptical and decides to interview Dr. Sinclair while Clark goes with Clark back to the lab, claiming that she isn't trust a LuthorCorp experiment without corroboration and reminding Clark that LuthorCorp experiments never end well.

4.01, Crusade

Chloe introduces us in the beginning, by a video she made -- judging on her clothes and hair, sometime around Whisper, possibly in Covenant.  "I don't even know where to start. I know you must have a million questions, but I don't know how many answers I can give you."  We pull out to see her cousin from Delete watching them in the Torch.  Chloe continues: "If you're watching this, it means I'm probably dead. You were always the one good thing in my life, and if I didn't tell you enough, I care about you more than you'll ever know. Please find out who did this, Clark. You're the only one who can."

Of course, Clark is missing which means we spend most of the episode following her cousin around, even to meeting Lionel Luthor where her cousin wrongly deduces that he wasn't behind Chloe's death (which confirms later in the next episode that he was).  We also see brainwashed Clark, Kal-El, staring briefly at a picture of Chloe and Lana.

2.16, Fever

Smallville, Episode 2.16: Chloe and ClarkSmallville, Episode 2.16: Chloe and ClarkClark drops off raffle items at the Talon in the morning, telling Pete, Lana, and Chloe that is mom is sick.  When Chloe starts trying to ask questions as to what she has, he snaps at her; she apologizes and so does he saying he needs to go back to the hospital.

The next day, Lana had told Chloe that Clark had come down with the same disease.  Chloe drives up to the farm, apologizing to Jonathan for being a nuisance and asking if she could sit with him*.  She sits with him remarking about how he ruined his perfect attendance record.  She adds in that she'd never seen him sick before and made her wonder "what if something happened to [him] and [she] never got a chance to tell..."  Chloe wrote a letter to read/give to him:

I want to let you in on a secret. I'm not who you think I am. In fact, my disguise is so thin, I'm surprised you haven't seen right through me. I'm the girl of your dreams masquerading as your best friend. Sometimes I want to rip off this facade like I did at the Spring Formal, but I can't because you'll get scared and you'll run away again. So I decided that it's better to live with a lie than expose my true feelings

2.02, Heat

It's the first day of their sophomore year at Smallville High, and Chloe Sullivan is back from Metropolis.  Gabe Sullivan is now part of LexCorp as he contributed heavily to Lex's buy out and hence, they get to stay in Smallville.  Chloe interned at the Daily Planet during the summer from the internship she won in Obscura, and despite Clark promising to email and visit, he did neither.  Chloe tells him there are no stories about the Planet to tell and that she met some guy who made her forget about Smallville "for three whole months."

Chloe, Clark, Pete, and Lana are in the same biology/sex-ed class.  Chloe notices Clark checking out their teacher and laughs at him; about thirty seconds later after continuing to ogle their teacher, Clark accidentally triggers his heat vision for the first time.

Clark spots Chloe at Lex's wedding later and strikes up a conversation with her; he tells her he's been looking for her and she retorts that she's "not that hard to find."  They continue having a conversation about pheromones which preps the digging later in the episode and Chloe tells Clark that it boils down to chemistry.  Chloe tells Clark that "love is rarely, if ever, logical."

1.20, Obscura

It's you! It's always you.

Chloe stops by to visit Lana at the hospital telling Clark that she can reschedule her interview at the Planet even though Clark reminds her that she's been waiting for weeks fot it and that Lana's going to be okay.  Chloe says she's going to stay "at [her] cousin's dorm" and to call her if anything goes wrong with the Torch.  Clark says that everything will be fine; Chloe asks him to "wish [her] luck?" and he replies she doesn't need it.  Walking out to her car, she gets kidnapped and Lana, with her new meteor power, sees it.

Clark tends the Torch while he thinks she's in Metropolis - noting she's gone one day and it goes down in flames [note: this line is repeated from Hothead.]  Lana tells him about her dream and then later teases him about buying tickets for the Spring Formal for himself and Chloe while she's out of town. When Lana has another vision, Clark calls Gabe Sullivan and the police.

Chlois appeals to fans of the show for many different reasons. It's not possible to represent them all, but here are some of the recurring points made among Chloisers.

The Fun of the Unexpected Twist

Chloe permanently taking on the pen name "Lois Lane" just seems like a great story twist. It could be the best kind of plot twist, one that you may not see coming, but one which will make perfect sense in hindsight. It would actually have been set up before the audience's eyes and most importantly it would actually make the story richer.

...it just makes sense that Lois Lane should have been there from the beginning as she has been in all other versions of the story...
