Chloe goes back to Lex a day or two later, telling him about the needle she saw Adam use and showing off the vial she found. The lab she took it too say it had a tiny amount of blood platelets that weren't human nor animal; Lex is amused at her disregard for breaking into confidential medical records. Chloe also points out that Adam had a Dr. Lia Teng from Metropolis visit him twice a week, but she's not a general practitioner, she's a molecular biologist. Lex asks her not to tell any of this new information to Lana.
A few days later she's working with Clark at the Torch on his article on Dante - a local street racer who has Pete over a barrel. Chloe points out that Clark seems very invested, and while he tries to play it off as journalist enthusiasm, she questions if his source is Pete. Clark relents that he's keeping a secret and is trying to protect Pete. Chloe says that maybe Pete will listen to her instead because she's merely his friend (unlike Clark's sibling like bond with Pete); she also discovers that all the license plates Clark found are from stolen cars. Clark decides to go to the sheriff.
