The scenes originally written for Chloe in this episode which deal with history with mother, and her parent's divorse and early life were later moved Talisman, removing the parallel about Lex to his father, Clark to his father, and Chloe to her father. Episode 3.18, Truth
Chloe confronts an old co-worker of her fathers; he tells her that Lex is opening projects that no one wants to be a part of, and that while he's sorry about what happened to Gabe, it's probably best that Gabe puts LuthorCorp behind him. Chloe, confused as to why her father hasn't been able to land a job despite being a former manager, steals the man's entrance card and sneaks onto LuthorCorp's third level. Chloe starts looking around when a big black dog frightens her; she bumps into a machine that douses her with a green gas. Chloe passes out and then runs out of LuthorCorp.
"...journalismhand you

Sometimes
you have towork for it"The next day Clark is trying to catch up with Chloe; his article for the Torch keeps getting delayed by the teacher he's trying to interview. Chloe gives him a few pointers before trying to help Clark herself; the teacher suddenly blurts out that she didn't do her prep work and can't do the interview because she's giving a pop quiz. "Did she really just say that?" Chloe asked Clark confused. They continue onwards to the Torch where they talk about their plans for the evening; Pete blurts out that Clark's going to get them shark dogs from the stadium in Metropolis and Clark plays off that Pete's kidding.
Later that night, Clark and Chloe are cooking over his article for the Torch at the Kent Farm; the interview still hasn't been completed. Martha comes home from the grocery and talks to Chloe, admitting that between Jonathan's heart problems, and the issues with Clark's biological father, she's worried about her family. Clark walks in on Martha spilling, and Chloe corners him about never telling her that he found his biological parents. Clark says he'll see her tomorrow and shows her out, telling his mom that he thinks something has happened to Chloe.
The next morning, Chloe interviews the teacher and discovers that she was once part of an extremist group through her new power, and was responsible for some long outstanding deaths caused by a bomb that group planted. Chloe writes it all down and publishes it in the Torch the next day, with terrible backlash from the student body. Chloe doesn't care and has become aware of her power, testing it on random people; Clark realizes that it was Chloe who broke into the plant and was exposed to something that super-charged her. Chloe claims it's "every reporters dream" and that she could "crack the mystery that is Clark Kent!" Clark is appalled when she asks him point blank what he's hiding from her; Chloe's surprised when he doesn't answer.
Chloe goes into the Talon during lunch where she has a confrontation with Lana who admits that she never felt like part of Chloe's family, that she's been purposefully hiding things from Chloe, and that she couldn't trust Chloe. Chloe also runs into the teacher's son who tries to threaten her for causing his mom to hide from the police. Chloe, hurt, leaves.
She goes to the Luthor manor where she's supposed to meet Lex; Chloe has a headache. Lex admits he knows she broke into his lab and asks her to figure out what his missing seven weeks were with her "gift." Chloe flips the tables on Lex telling him it was obviously something his father wanted erased for good and that "[her] family's future is just one chess move in the endless game of one-upmanship played by you and your dad".; Lex confesses that he just wants his father to love him and that's why he can't stop the game between him and his father before Chloe leaves to meet Clark at the hospital.
At the hospital, Clark has a sting set up for Chloe to get her examined. Chloe, not knowing, called Pete who shows up at the hospital as well. When the three of them are stuck in an elevator, Chloe asks what Pete's hiding from her. Pete then kisses her and admits he likes her, urging her to get better. Chloe is shocked, as is Clark; her headaches are getting worse and the hospital admits her.
Clark goes back to the Torch where he reads through Chloe's files to find an ex-military officer who worked on the original Levitas project and he plans to contact him to see if he can help Chloe. Pete stops by and Clark brings up the whole kiss over again. Pete admits that he never took a chance on Chloe "Because I'm always standing next to you. Oh, come on, Clark. As far as long shadows go, you're the dark side of the moon."
During her examination, Lionel Luthor sneaks in; he knows she's been exposed to the Levitas. Chloe sneaks her phone to record and traps Lionel into admitting he arranged his parent's murder for insurance money. She attempts to use it to blackmail him but Lionel flips the tables on her promising to hire her father back if she goes out to the Kent farm and as "where" Clark was from.
"Maybewho I

is justam."On her way over to the farm, Clark runs into Lionel and realizes what has happened. He calls her on her cell as she's driving (and weaving due to the migraines) and she asks him if he has any idea if he knew "what it's like to look at your best friend every day and know that he is lying to you?" The teacher's son is following her and tries to drive her off the bridge after she passes out. Clark, with a possible cure from an exiled military LuthorCorp scientist, stops the homicide attempt and pulls Chloe to safety - pumping her full of the solution and kick starting her heart.
Chloe visits him in the loft the next day; the Levitas is cleared from her system. Chloe admits that she was going over to the farm to "find out all the answers to the questions that you never answer." Clark brushes it off that she wasn't herself and that going after the truth isn't a bad thing at all, but Chloe admits that "maybe this is just who I am." Clark forgives her and gives her a hug which she returns.
She goes to the Torch that night where Lionel left a message for her - her voicemail of his confession has been deleted.
Episode 3.19, Memoria
No Chloe.
Episode 3.20, Talisman
Chloe notes that Pete spent the night in his clothes from yesterday after she walked in on the tail end of a conversation of a phone conversation of his in the Torch. While she tries to be supportive, Pete brushes he off completely.* Later that day, she convinces Lana to ask Lex for money for tuition to go to Paris, pointing out that Lex wouldn't let a minor bump in the road detour him.
The next day, Chloe runs into Pete in the hallway late at night. She unlocks the Torch for him, making small talk about a promotion his mom is up for. Pete accuses her of not stopping "until [she] gets her scoop." Chloe denies it and points out that she's his friend. But Pete continues, "You're both. And it's pretty obvious which one comes first." He understands now why Clark got so angry with her all the time; hurt, Chloe gives him the key to the Torch and leaves.
Chloe comes into the Torch early the next day; Pete's mom was looking for him but Chloe covered for him. Pete bitterly admits that she solved the mystery. Chloe admits that she's lived through divorce court - only at the time she hid out in the garage because she didn't have a drivers license. She gives Pete a hug.
* The Chloe/Pete scenes were originally written by Jeph Loeb to be part of Legacy
Episode 3.21, Forsaken
Chloe goes with Lana to have one last look around the Talon before Lana hands over the keys to the new owner. Neither are thrilled about it being turned into a burrito bar; they meet Emily who is posing as the new owners daughter. Lana thinks she recognizes her but it doesn't go very far; she agrees to show "Emma" the ropes of the Talon.
Lionel visits the Torch later that night, giving Chloe a picture of Emily and demanding her help; Chloe is dead pan and sarcastic towards him but recognizes Emily and shows it to Clark the next day. Clark helps her piece together that it is Emily, that Lionel must of grabbed her last year, and Clark mentions that they'd got to keep Emily away from Lex due to Lex working with the FBI. Chloe is taken aback and points out about Lex's grandparents' murder; Clark refutes that citing that "[they] never had hard evidence before about what Lionel was doing." But that if they found Emily, they would have evidence that Lionel was illegally cloning people.
Chloe goes to talk to Lex; she tells him what Lionel erased - about Morgan Edge, the murder, the memory wipe, the confession, her entanglement with his father - and about what she had, the voicemail confession. She points out that he has enough clout to resurrect that confession and use it. Lex thanks her for coming forward and Chloe admits that she knows Luthor politics can be deadly but she knows he'll take care of her.
Episode 3.22, Covenant
Lionel is meeting with his paid-off agent, Loeder who claims "I can't control some bleach-blond Pulitzer wannabe from dredging up evidence for a decades-old homicide." Meanwhile, Chloe's working in the Torch; Jonathan visits her with the tea cup that Kara used. Jonathan asks her to run the prints as a personal favor; Chloe backs off her third degree and agrees, telling him it might take a little time.
"I can't controlevidence for a
some bleach blond
Pulitzer wannabe
from dredging updecades-old homicide!"She meets with Lex later that night; Lex reveals to her that his dad is sick and dying and she gives Lex an out to stop with the legal process. Lex says he's not giving up; his father is a dying man with little to loose. However, he wants her to have all the facts of what's going on before she commits; she assures him that she's "not backing down."
Chloe is at the Metropolis courthouse waiting for Clark to show up - in a pretty black suit. She talks with Lex, questioning why Clark wouldn't show up at all - and notices Clark (in his standard 'Superman' SV outfit) through the crowd. Clark breezes past Lex and her; she takes off after him leaving Lex alone.
Before meeting up to go into protective custody, Chloe stops by the Kent farm to give Jonathan the information he asked for citing, "even for [her], the keeper of the Wall of Weird... it's extremely weird." She and her father go into protective custody, where they are taken to a safe house on the edge of town which explodes seconds after they enter it.*
* In the Modern Age, Lois and her father were blown up by Lex Luthor; her father died and she survived. Additionally in Birthright, Lois has already gotten several Pulitzers by the time Clark shows up in Metropolis. In Lois and Clark, Lois wins the Kerth award three years running and had been nominated every years since she was old enough to be nominated before Clark shows up in Metropolis.
