Episode 4.11, Unsafe
When Alicia Baker is released from Belle Reve, Clark goes to Chloe to get some confirmation. Chloe hacks into the Belle Reve database where she finds the profiles on Alicia and her psychiatrist, the brilliant Harvard educated William McBride. Chloe reads the file which claims Alicia is fully cured and Clark deduces that Alicia told him the truth. Chloe teases him that it was exactly what he wanted to hear.
Alicia steals yet another extra redK ring from the Torch. Interestingly enough, she (like Kyla before her) has a bracelet on her wrist now - this one keeps her from being able to transport. Clark breaks it later in the episode - and gives it back to her at the end of the episode after she takes a bullet for him (and it's right before they get get together).
Chloe has a girl talk with Lana later about sexual relationships; Chloe admits that she had a relationship with a boy she met at the Planet which she thought was "the real thing" but wasn't. She calls him "cute in a bow tie kind of way" and we're told it's Jimmy (the insinuation is Olsen but like Obscura's cousin being Lois, we won't be sure until he shows up on the show..) Chloe tells Lana that it only happens once so make sure Jason is the one she wants to remember forever.
The next day when Clark is looking for Alicia, he enlists Chloe's help in finding her - but ultimately doesn't need it as McBride is waiting in his loft to show him down.
Episode 4.12, Pariah
"Chloe Sullivan,You write all
ace reporter.
these articles
about people
you call freaks...
and you don't
even realize
that someone
close to you is
one of them.
Why are you
ignoring
what is right
in front of
your face,
Chloe?
Don't you
want to know
the truth about
Clark Kent?"Alicia is still in town, and is now sort of dating Clark. They go to the karaoke at the Talon where they have mixed reactions from the crowd, including a bad reception from Lana. When someone who can teleport tries to kill Lana, everyone thinks it's Alicia. Chloe and her cousin meet Clark up at the hospital after the attack and Chloe warns him that the sheriff suspects Alicia; Clark points out about the bracelet and bout Chloe and her cousin remain skeptical. (Clark later tries to make her a new special bracelet later in the episode but he can't.)
The next day, Chloe's cousin berates her for spending time at the Torch; "Ever think of getting out more?" Chloe brushes it off, pointing out that her cousin ran away from college that week. Her cousin ignores her claiming that she doesn't buy into Chloe's theory at which point Chloe stops her and points out that it's not just a theory, that it's real and that Alicia is the proof. By this point they are at the lockers and Clark interrupts their conversation, he wants to know if Chloe has anyone else with the same or similar powers in her database. A op-ed writer for the Torch, Tim, hands in an article to Chloe and asks her cousin out on a date. Chloe pushes her cousin into it after seeing EDLois sing to him at the Talon the night before; she ask Tim for any leads and he points the blame at Alicia.
After getting upset with Clark for not believing her, Alicia goes to the Torch where she finds Chloe - "ace reporter." She asks why Chloe's ignoring the truth about Clark, and Chloe points out that she has no reason to trust Alicia. Alicia claims she'll prove it so Chloe can write "the story of a life time." She teleports both of them to a car and starts driving them down the road; Chloe askes what she's doing - and Alicia says that it's Chloe's next headline. Alicia calls Clark, claiming the breaks of the car are faulty, and Clark runs over. Alicia teleports them out of the car. Chloe is worried, and starts questioning what he's doing -- and watches as Clark catches the car in mid air and runs off. "Oh, my God!"*
On her date, Chloe's cousin figures out that Tim is crazy. She runs into Chloe at the Talon who is mulling over what just happened over a cup of coffee. She thinks that Clark is "probably zipping around looking for Alicia." She agrees to give her cousin a call if Clark shows up at the Talon. Chloe sits there still dumbstruck.
The next day her cousin heads back to the city, and sees Chloe studying the Wall. She questions Chloe if she's looking for signs of Tim's mutation, wondering if there were thinks that she could of done differently. Chloe is upset about starting the Wall at all, that all she's done for four years was expose people and wonders if she's seen too much. Her cousin reminds her that "you're a reporter. You investigate and expose. That's who you are." Chloe tells her that it "sucks being [her]" sometimes then. Chloe asks her for advice, if she should tell someone that she knew their secret even if that person didn't want her to know. Her cousin advises her that if the secret isn't dangerous to just be supportive and maybe
someday the person will trust her with it - after all people keep secrets for a reason. After she leaves, Chloe pulls Clark's articles off the Wall and wonders aloud why he didn't just tell her.
Chloe goes out to meet with Clark in the cemetery.** Chloe tells him that she's so sorry about what happened, realizing that "it must’ve been so hard being so different, having everyone judge you before they even know you, knowing that there’s some people that might never accept you." She tells him that she's there incase he ever wants to talk and he thanks her.
* The shot of Chloe's face is extremely similar to the book cover where Clark reveals his secret to Lois in the Modern Age.
** Playing in this scene is Deeper Water by Minnie Driver. According to Minnie's website, the song is about learning how to love again after loss and how scary that is.
Episode 4.13, Recruit
Chloe is working to free her cousin from assault charges for attacking a fellow student while intoxicated. Chloe points out that anyone with an MD can figure out that it's impossible for a spin kick to cause full body paralysis. Chloe is going to Met U for her financial aide pitch, and Clark Kent is looking at Met U for a football scholarship - so they both end up working on her cousin's case together. Chloe says she's a bit surprised that Clark took advantage of the football route, but Clark doesn't seem to get the hint.
Later, Chloe is hanging out in her cousin's dorm room filling out a long questionnaire for financial aide when Clark comes in having deduced that Geoff, a former SHS football player, must have the power to drop people. He cites the fact that Geoff is faking his drug tests - and he asks Chloe to track the guy down. Chloe agrees and takes her cousin with her; while Chloe is trying to get in the dorms, her cousin gets snatched by Geoff who figures out she's on his trail on her search to clear her name.
Chloe discovers she's gone and rushes off to find Clark - citing that the campus police wouldn't help her at all due to Geoff's notoriety. Clark notes that Geoff's car has a Trip Star system in it and Chloe admits that those systems are traceable if one has the PIN. She teases Clark about ripping the safe that would hold it out of the dealership's wall. They go back to Lois' room where Chloe hacks into the Trip Star system; Clark calls them on the phone pretending to be Geoff to get the location. Chloe turns to get her keys to drive once they get the address, but Clark's already gone - which makes her smile, unsurprised
The next day, after Chloe's cousin still got booted from the university for drinking and has conned the Kents into giving her a place to stay, Chloe runs into Clark at school. She got in to Metropolis University and tells him he'll have a car pool buddy - but Clark tells her that he's not going because he turned down his scholarship.* Chloe realizes what has happened and tells him that she's proud of him. Clark tells her that she's been saying a lot of weird things - "what makes you think I'm destined to do anything?" "Just a hunch," she replies.

Episode 4.14, Krypto
Chloe comes to the Kent farm to bring her cousin's forwarded mail, while there she meets the puppy her cousin nearly killed by running over; the dog immediately takes to her (and we learn in this episode that the dog is a Clark stand in.) Clark admits that it's hard to be himself with her cousin around, and Chloe tells him that he's got the puppy and her. The puppy has super powers thought and drags a tractor with him when he tries to follow Clark in the house; Chloe plays her first cover for Clark telling her cousin that the tractor is just old.
Chloe also does some digging in this episode - for Lana. She researches Jason's lineage back to a small town in France and discovers that Jason's ancestors moved Isobel's tomb into the church in Paris where Lana found it and was marked by it. Chloe, not for the first time, reminds Lana that if she wants answers then she really needs to go to the source of her questions.
Episode 4.15, Sacred
No Chloe.
Episode 4.16, Lucy*
Chloe catches up with her younger cousin Lucy when she comes to down, giving her the full tour of Smallville; Chloe helps her other cousin after she can't keep her dishes on the tray - Clark calls it a "floor show."
When it becomes obvious that Lucy is having issues, Chloe and Clark look into it; Chloe hacks into some database and figures out that the man behind it is a bounce and known bad guy, and she warns her cousin not to go "Lifetime heroine" after him. Clark suggests going to Lex.
After Lucy leaves with Lex's car and 50,000 in untraceable bonds, Chloe catches up with Clark the next day at school. Chloe comments that keeping secrets only seems to hurt people, and Clark agrees that people can't save everyone. "But that doesn't stop you from trying, does it Clark?" Chloe asks as she walks past him to class.
* In the SFX round up, Al and Miles the producers claimed the reason this episode failed was because the audience wasn't invested in EDLois' character and the one good point was that Lucy and Lois looked related. Rating for this episode were very low and immediately after this episode, the spoiler sides for Blank were re-written.
