Lois and Clark, Season One: Lois and Clark Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, originally pitched as "Lois Lane's Daily Planet", Lois & Clark aired on ABC from September 12, 1993 to June 14, 1997, and starred Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher; it was developed for television by Deborah Joy Levine.
The series used a character-base that was introduced to the DC Comics world in the 1980's by John Byrne. Byrne proported that Clark Kent was the 'real man' or the 'true identity' of the character, where as the Superman persona was an of shoot, allowing Clark to use his powers and do heroic acts. The series clarified their own take on the philosophy in season two by having Clark sum up that Clark Kent was who he was, "Superman is what I can do."
