Smallville, Episode 1.17: Chloe, Clark, and PeteSmallville, Episode 1.17: Chloe, Clark, and PeteChloe evidently found out that one of the citizens that Clark had helped volunteer for [continuity note from Hourglass] had died and left him a note. Chloe notes the official story (a fire) though it is more than obvious she believes the unofficial one -- spontaneous human combustion. Clark notes her enthusiasm to which she quips - "I'm not happy, I'm intrigued." Pete and Clark both note her enthusiasm as a sign that Chloe's still going to look into it.

Don't look at me. He does that all the time.

Late that day, she finds an article in the Daily Planet about a missing body (which is, of course, ash due to the FotW). Clark notes the similarities and Chloe tells him that "It sure would be nice to check out that house for ourselves." Clark nods in agreement.

Chloe takes pictures of the bed and the ashes - despite the fact that it's a crime scene. Clark notes that the dog is missing and finds the remains - noting that he thinks someone is behind the death of Mrs. Sykes and her dog (and, by proxy, the death of the coroner in Metropolis.)

Later that night, Chloe uses her sources to get the autopsy photographs of Tyler at the coroners office. Chad who "works weekends for the ME" gave her the toxicology report which showed that Tyler had kryptonite in his system. When Lana comes to tell Clark that Tyler is going after Whitney's father and Clark runs out, Chloe notes that Clark "does that all the time."*
