About Carbon Copy
The Frequently Asked Questions
What is the History Chlois?
Well talk of Chlois actually started when a WB press released claimed they would do a show about a young Clark, and young Lois, and maybe a young Lex too - that's back in 1999/2000. About six months later, Smallville had finished going through it's pitching process and had Chloe Sullivan - a girl with "A lot of L's in her name on purpose" according to Miles. In 2001, Chlois (still not termed that) was kicked around a bit on line, often in fanfiction of all sorts.
At ComicCon 2002, Al gave the first major denial of it (previously Omar G of TWoP had asked). Prior to that, assuming Chloe was Lois was so common it was part of KSites FAQ and one of their April Fools gags. In season 2's Fever, there was a letter that struck some as immediately contradictory to the CC2002 claim; by the time spoilers for season three's Delete came about several things happened.
Carbon Copy was opened. KryptonSite started it's first, official Chlois thread in the spoiler and spec forum - where it has become the largest thread at KSite to date.
The summer before season 4 it was announced that Lois Lane, Chloe's cousin, came to the series. The Ksite thread grew and changed exponentially. Chlois went to DCcomic and FanForum. Over the next few years it would go to AICN, TWoP, the WB websites, DTS, SVNews, LiveJournal, created several new record holding threads at KSite, and AllisonMackOnline.
In season five, Kryptonsite again used it as a April Fools gag, a running tradition that often ends up being right (Aquaman, Ian Sommerhalter, Pete's leaving, Zod's arrival.)
By season 6 it had also reached TVGuide, the CW websites, Entertainment Weekly, some Superman podcasts, and Superman Homepage; it had only grown in popularity and visibility since the casting of Erica Durance as Lois Lane.
Needless to say we've been here, a long long time.
Are you guys all Chlarkers?
Hardly! There are Chlexers, Chleters, non-shippers of all kinds; not to mention those who like multiple ships and/or characters on the show. What we are (most often through comics, Lois & Clark, or the movies) are fans of Lois Lane - the iconic character who works at the Daily Planet, and is both Superman's sidekick and Clark Kent's partner. It's (as Mark Waid says) that 'super woman' we are a fan of. Chlois stemmed up because of Chloe's similarities to Lois Lane, not due to any kind of shipping preference - just ask those of us who want her to be Lois and want her to hook up with Lex.
